FURNITEX 2011

I should have posted this last Monday (but of course time got away from me and wahlah! Its Monday in AUGUST already?!)
So last week we attended Furnitex in Melbourne. Unfortunately I couldn't get many photos - (nobody was allowed to take photos, as an aggravated stall holder grumbled at me!) but I managed to sneak in a cheeky few (bad blurry photos; was taking them as fast as I could before anyone saw me!):

The stand above and below was fabric & lighting importer Tigger Hall , and was definitely one of my favourites at the exhibition. The fabrics were amazing and so was the range of Nautic lighting on display. I fell in love with the modern 'lanterns' (pictured above).

I didn't bother to bring out the iPhone to take more pictures for fear of being 'told', but here are some of the companies and products we loved:

(Yes, this stand was a favourite).

And some images of Furnitex from the Decoration Design blog:

...oh OH: and below is an image of the beautiful new Octo chandelier new from Hermon and Hermon (see on the left)

The remaining short list of photos I took was centered around the awesome food we indulged in...
Lunch at Nobu Crown: AMAZING! We had the Bento Box with a side of champagne and tempura prawns, delicious!:

After Furnitex and our Nobu fiesta, we headed over to South Wharf to pick up some stuff pre ordered for clients and also did a very small spot of shopping...
We had been up since 5am that morning and by 6.30pm that night, I was ready to get my sit-downs on! So we treated ourselves to a margarita at the Hilton South Wharf on the way back to our hotel:

We stayed at Crown Promenade  and the view from our room was amazing:

We freshened ourselves up and went to one of our fav's, Giuseppe Arnaldo and Sons for dinner: un-freaken-believable Italian food. For kicks, we started with fresh sourdough and olive oil, warmed mixed European olives and scallops, then for mains I had the homemade pork sausage rigatoni and Chantal had the chilli crab spaghetti in a bag...(I am literally salivating right now!):

After dinner, we forced down a spearmint and chocolate gelato and put ourselves to bed.
We woke up to this amazing morning view:

Once we were up, we headed to Cervo for a tonne of coffee and scrambled eggs on the yarra:...

Then proceeded to eat our way through the day, including this amazing lunch at Richmond Oysters (another fav): we had lobster rice paper rolls, a sashimi plate, Japanese breadcrumb oysters and tempura oysters. I washed it down with a pear cider:

While in Richmond, we checked out my Space, Polform and Coco Republic
We drooled repeatedly.
(Its just occurred to me this is more of a food post, not a work/design related post?! Ha!)
I have to mention too, on the way out of the city, we stopped on Toorak Rd to get a mocha and a macaron from Lux Bite: the salted caramel macaron is highly recommended ;)
